About IBPS CWE Exam

IBPS is registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 and a Public Trust under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. The body has received mandate from top 20 Public sector banks and 82 Rural Banks conducted a Common Bank Exam formally known as  Common Written Examination (CWE).

Around 10 Million students have already appeared in CWE.  In 2011 alone, IBPS help these banks in recruiting over 80,000 candidates. Normally CWE is held in November and  for Rural banks the Exam is held in September. (As conducted in 2012-13)

Types of Job / Post

There are almost 100,000 new vacancies in Public and Private sector banks. As per Mr. B. Balachandran, Director of IBPS estimated around 7.5 lac job vacancies in next 5 years.  However, lets understand two major Job Profiles.

Bank Clerk

Normally a Bank Clerk is the primary point of contact for most bank customers. They administer basic banking operations and transactions, documentation and other functions.

An average package for a Bank clerk ranges between 4.5 to 6 Lacs per annum; even more in case of SBI. They are also entitled to many other benefits like housing allowance, travel, medical and many more.

Bank PO

A Bank PO or Probationary Officer is an entry level bank officers. He is appointed as PO for next 1-2 years, during this period they are exposed to various important departments and functions of the bank. These are normal banking activities to Foreign exchange, Credit Rating, Treasury management, Risk Management, IT, Marketing and others. After completion of this period they are assigned a permanent JOB in a specific field.

 Specialty Officer

These are normally assigned in some special role like in Treasury, Risk Management, Project Financing, Marketing and others. Normally, CA, MBA-Finance, MBA-Marketing, Degree in Agricultural are required in these posts as Officer scale II. Salary packages are normally between 5.5 lac to 8 lac.
